The Plan

We are five Imperial College London students, well four current students and one graduate, and we are planning to reveal Georgian White Water to European paddlers. Between us we have a wealth of kayaking experience in the UK, France, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, and Italy, but this time we want to explore further afield. Georgia is slowly becoming known as a White Water kayaking destination, but we plan to explore and document it for the benefit of the paddling community.

We are heading out in September and will be spending a month exploring what Georgia has to offer. We plan to explore the North Western Caucasus mountain region, paddling rivers such as the Enguri and its tributaries the Nenskra, Dolra, and Mulkhura. Then as we move South we will attempt the slightly more accessible Tekhuri, Tskhenistskhali, and Rioni.

Weather permitting we will then continue on to the South West regions near the border with Turkey. Here we hope to paddle the Machakhela, Chirukhi and Shkalta.

Upon our return we hope to have collected enough information to publish a guide for other adventurous paddlers to use as a starting point for their excursions to this new kayaking destination.
